BYD has announced on Weibo that it is testing the urban pilot intelligent driving function of the 2025 Han. Significantly, it claims that it has achieved a breakthrough in that it has had zero takeovers while driving the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link.

This is a nearly 50 km combined bridge and tunnel which links the cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan. It opened at the end of June 2024 and forms part of the G2518 Expressway with a total of four lanes in each direction. According to China Daily, the route carries 100,000 vehicles daily.

Intelligent driving has been a weakness for BYD, particularly compared to the startup brands and brands using Huawei’s Qiankun system.

The 2025 model year Han launched on September 9 and features BYD’s new Eye of the Gods DiPilot 300 advanced intelligent driving assistance system.

Available on intelligent driving versions, which form the top-of-the-range models for the Han Range, the cars are equipped with a Lidar unit, 5 millimeter-wavelength radars, 4 panoramic cameras, and 7 intelligent driving cameras. Unlike most of the startup brands, which use two chips, BYD uses a single Nvidia Orin X chip with 254 TOPS computing power.

The system supports driving functions such as high speed pilot, city pilot, and traffic light recognition. The capabilities of the system are growing through continual OTA upgrades.

With the introduction of the 2025 model year BYD Han, the looks of the DM (PHEV) variant and EV versions were unified for the first time. Furthermore, the car introduced a new color known as Weiyang gray and a blacked-out sports package.

The PHEV version (see specs) uses BYD’s new DM 5.0 technology, which, for the Han, is centered around a 1.5T engine with 115 kW power. In addition, there is a front-mounted 200 kW electric motor. An 18.31 kWh battery pack provides up to 125 km all-electric range using CLTC measurement. The combined range is quoted as 1350 km.

For the DM version, prices range from 165,800 yuan (22,700 USD) to 225,800 yuan (30,950 USD).

All electric versions of the 2025 BYD Han (see specs) use either a front-mounted 150 kW, 168 kW, or 180 kW electric motor. Battery sizes are 60.48 kWh, 72 kWh, and 79.6 kWh. Prices range from 179,800 yuan (24,650 USD) to 235,800 yuan (32,300 USD).
