The Porsche 911’s rival from BYD was spotted in China as a two-door sports car. Its predecessor was introduced in April 2024 as the Fang Cheng Bao Super 9 concept car. The mass-production variant of this vehicle is expected to become a part of a Europe-bound Denza brand.

The BYD’s two-door sports car was seen on a tow truck covered with the company’s signature blue-ish camouflage. The spotted vehicle boasts a sporty stance with a low beltline, a sloped front end, and a sleek roof. It has traditional side-view mirrors and retractable door handles.

It is worth noting this model’s exterior styling is unfinished. It has no headlights and a rear bumper. From the back, we can notice exposed orange-colored high-voltage cables. Interestingly, the front end of this two-door sports car reminds us of the latest design language of BYD’s Denza brand. We can tell by the shape of the headlights.

Chinese sources also reported that this sports car will become an addition to BYD’s Denza brand. It was initially founded as a 50-50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and BYD. However, the Chinese automaker acquired 100% of Denza shares this year. Next year, Denza will enter Europe with the Z9 GT shooting brake as a launch car. The two-door sports car can also become a part of the model line for Europe.

Thanks to a good angle in the photo, we can have a glance at the car’s interior. It has two sporty seats with integrated headrests. Chinese media assumed this vehicle had four seats inside, similar to the Porsche 911. However, we tend to doubt this assumption since the car’s roofline is too sloped. There will be no headroom for rear passengers.

In April 2024, BYD revealed the Fang Cheng Bao Super 9 two-door convertible with scissor doors. It was designed by an ex-Lamborghini and Audi veteran Wolfgang Egger. There was no information about its drivetrain or battery pack. We at CarNewsChina expect the production-ready variant of this two-door sports car to adopt the powertrain from the Denza Z9. It offers three e-motors with a combined power output of 710 kW (952 hp).
