Chinese automaker Chery applied for the sales license for the 7-seat Exeed VX C-DM high-end SUV with a PHEV powertrain. It comprises a turbocharged ICE and three electric motors for 455 kW (610 hp). The Exeed VX C-DM has an electric range of 143 km, thanks to a CATL-made ternary battery.

Exeed is a high-end brand under Chery Group founded in 2017. It manufactures family crossovers. Exeed’s sales volume isn’t high in China (see more in our Data Tracker) as it is export-oriented. However, Chery’s brand wants to take over the domestic market by launching NEVs. It sells BEVs and EREVs under Sterra series (it sells overseas as Exlantix). And plug-in hybrid cars are sold under the Exeed brand. The Exeed VX C-DM will become the latest addition to this line.

Exeed VX is a sizable SUV that was first revealed in China as ICE-only in 2020. It started sales in 2021 and was renamed to Lanyue in China. But its international name is Exeed VX. This crossover was available only as a petrol-powered car for three years. Exeed revealed the EREV (range extender) variant of the VX at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023. However, Chery Group ended up making the VX a plug-in hybrid SUV with three electric motors.

More about Exeed VX C-DM

The exterior styling of the Exeed VX C-DM got a few adjustments compared to the previous model. It has a single strip with L-shaped units. The car’s front end has updated headlights and a large grille. It also has black trim all around the body. Dimensions of the Exeed VX C-DM are 5010/1940/1800 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm.

The Exeed VX C-DM rides on four wheel options: 235/55 R19, 245/45 R20, 245/50 R20, and 245/50 ZR20. Its curb weight is 2280 kg. And the gross weight reaches 2805 kg. Inside, the Exeed VX has six or seven seats. Its center console has a triple screen.

The PHEV variant of the Exeed VX has a C-DM powertrain. It comprises a 1.5-liter SQRH4J15 engine for 115 kW (154 hp) and three electric motors for 340 kW (456 hp). Two e-motors are a part of the 3-speed DHT transmission. And the third electric motor sits in the rear axle. The combined peak power output of the Exeed VX is 455 hp (610 hp). Previously, the Exeed RX C-DM got the same powertrain. It speeds up to 100 km/h in 4.26 seconds.

The Exeed VX C-DM has a CATL-made ternary NMC battery pack on board with a capacity of 34.46 kWh and a weight of 228 kg. The electric range of the Exeed VX C-DM reaches 143 km CLTC. The mixed range has yet to be revealed. With a drained battery, its energy consumption rate is 6.88 L/100km.

The Exeed VX C-DM will likely enter the market this year as it is about to finish the homologation. It will rival lots of NEV crossovers such as BYD Tang DM-i, Aito M7, Li Auto L6, Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, etc.
