Hongqi Tiangong 05 all-electric sedan with 750 km range official images unveiled
On January 24, FAW’s Hongqi brand released a set of images of its upcoming Tiangong 05 pure electric sedan, also the first sedan and the second model under Hongqi’s Tiangong series. The official debut is expected to occur around the Lunar New Year and will be launched within this year.

In terms of product planning, the Tiangong series consists of a mid-size luxury pure electric SUV, a large luxury pure electric SUV, and a luxury pure electric sedan. So far, the Tiangong 08 SUV has been launched on the market.
The Tiangong 05 is the mass-produced version of the Hongqi E009 concept car and sits on the Tiangong pure electric platform that supports sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and crossover models. In the front, the slender headlight shape is retained, decorated with distinct light units. The lower grille adopts a trapezoidal design. However, the original Hongqi New Energy logo is replaced with the iconic Hongqi vertical logo and extends into the front hood.

From the side, the Tiangong 05 adopts a fastback shape, runs on 18-inch petal-shaped rims, and comes with hidden door handles. The rear is equipped with a “Y”-shaped taillight group. The car has a length, width, and height of 4820/1915/1480 mm, with a 2900 mm wheelbase; and offers two curb weight options: 1,890 kg and 2,018 kg.
Power comes from an electric motor with a maximum power of 210 kW (282 hp), matched with lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by CATL-FAW joint venture and CATL, providing CLTC cruising ranges of 550 km and 750 km. The top speed is 200 km/h. At this time, other detailed powertrain specs have not been revealed by the official.
The interior is covered in a large area of orange material and features a double-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a floating central control screen, and a 65-inch AR-HUD to replace the traditional instrument panel. Interestingly, the center console is layered with a 50W wireless charging panel and two cup holders on the top while the bottom is hollowed out and the structure does not extend all the way out to the dashboard.

In 2024, Hongqi sold more than 410,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 17.4%. Since announcing its “All in” new energy vehicle (NEV) strategy on January 8, 2023, Hongqi has established three sub-brands, namely, Hongqi Golden Sunflower, Hongqi New Energy, and Hongqi Energy Saving Vehicle. And recently, Hongqi launched the Tiangong series to continue to take on the NEV market. But looking at Tiangong 05’s specs, it will be a tough battle.
