Thanks to the 12 batch of the “Catalog of New Energy Vehicle Models for Reduction and Exemption of Vehicle Purchase Tax,” we now know the all-electric range of the EREV Luxeed R7. Luxeed is a collaborative brand between Huawei and Chery. The brand’s second model, the R7 SUV coupe, launched in September as an all-electric car.

In November, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) listing information gave us the first details about the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version. Thanks to the MIIT catalog information, we now know that this EREV will have a 195 km or 201 km electric range, depending on the version. Most likely, the 201 km has 20-inch wheels, whereas the 195 km has 21-inch wheels.

Also revealed is that the EREV version will have a 36 kWh battery pack that weighs 290 kg. The battery is a CATL supplied lithium iron phosphate unit.

From the previously declared information, we know that the range extender’s power comes from a Chery self-developed SQRH4J15 1.5T engine with 115 kW of power. This is the same engine as used in the Exeed Exlantix ET. The new catalog information gives a fuel consumption figure of 5.68 liters per 100 km.

Unfortunately, the MIIT listing information last month did not give the electric motor details. In the case of the EV version, most versions use a single rear-mounted electric motor, with the top-spec version gaining an additional front motor. However, the car may well adopt a similar motor setup to the Exeed Exlantix ET, which uses a 195 kW electric motor on the rear axle.

The dimensions of the EREV version are identical to those of the BEV. It measures 4956/1981/1634 mm, and its wheelbase is 2950 mm. It uses the E0X modular architecture platform, and its drag coefficient is meant to be Cd 0.219. The car has a top speed of 200 km/h.

Higher-spec versions of the car come with Lidar and use the Huawei Qiankun ADS 3.0 system. Those without Lidar will use the standard version of the system, which can be driven at high speed and on elevated roads across the country and supports intelligent parking.

The prices for the all-electric Luxeed R7 are 259,800-339,800 yuan (35,800 – 46,800 USD). The EREV version will lower the starting prices.

Luxeed is one of the four brands in the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). It launched its first model, the S7 sedan, last year. Until the launch of the R7, the only brand in HIMA doing well was Aito. This changed with the R7, which achieved over 30,000 orders in the first 33 days on sale.
