MG IM6 all-electric SUV to launch in Thailand on March 24
On February 23, IM Motors announced that the overseas version of its new IM LS6 called the IM6, was shipped from Shanghai Port and set off for Thailand. The car is scheduled to officially go on sale at the Thailand Auto Show on March 24 under SAIC’s MG brand.
IM Motors is a joint venture created by SAIC, Alibaba, and Zhangjiang Hi-tech.
Let’s take a look at the specs of the domestic version that is on the Chinese market now.
The IM LS6 is designed based on the Gentle Sculpture concept with the latest version launched on September 26, 2024, available in five trims priced from 216,900 to 279,900 yuan (30,000 – 38,600 USD), offering CLTC cruising ranges from 625 km to 802 km.
The entire series comes with the lizard digital chassis, intelligent four-wheel steering system, ultra-long-range high-precision lidar, NVIDIA DRIVE Orin chip, and a smart cockpit powered by the fourth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P platform.
IM Motors claimed that its IM AD advanced driving assistance system is 6.7 times safer than human driving. In particular, its autonomous parking assistance function supports more than 300 parking scenarios.
The new IM LS6 has the fastest 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 3.48 seconds, a 100 – 0 km/h braking distance of 33.76 meters, a top speed of 252 km/h, and a moose test speed of 82.7 km/h.
Both RWD and AWD are available. The RWD is powered by a 216 kW/450 Nm, 248 kW/500 Nm, or 300 kW/500 Nm electric motor, matched with 75 kWh, 83 kWh, or 100 kWh lithium iron phosphate or ternary lithium battery pack. The AWD has a maximum output of 579 kW/800 Nm, matched with a 100 kWh ternary lithium battery pack.
Positioned as a mid-sized SUV, the new IM LS6 measures 4904/1988/1669 mm and has a 2950 mm wheelbase. Its drag coefficient is 0.237Cd.
