GAC Huawei tie-up production car spied testing
The first production car from the GAC Huawei tie-up has been spied testing. Positioned as a 300,000 yuan (40,900 USD) level luxury intelligent new energy vehicle, the car is based on the 1 Concept sedan that was shown last year. According to a dealer conference, it will launched as a new “Trumpchi Yearning” series.

It’s believed that the new car will be unveiled during the first quarter. Dimensions should be similar to those of the 1 Concept, which has a wheelbase of 3000 mm, a length of 5128 mm, and rides on 21-inch rims.
As seen from the spy shots, the basic body shape is the same as that of the concept. It has low drag styling, and both the front and rear are expected to be equipped with through lights. Along with a length of 5128 mm the car will be 2000 mm wide.

The car is expected to be powered by the GAC Super Range Extender system, which is based on a 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 118 kW.
Spy shots of the interior show a massive infotainment screen, which seems to block forward vision. There also appears to be an instrument screen in front of the driver.
Interestingly, the cushion bolsters for the two rear seats seem to extend far further than the middle. This suggests that they are adjustable.

The car will use Huawei’s latest HarmonyOS to control the cockpit. Furthermore, the car will use the Qiankun ADS 3.0 for smart driving.
Over the course of 2024, GAC and Huawei signaled closer cooperation. It was initially announced at the Beijing auto show in April. In May, drawings of a concept were exposed.
By September, these had grown into the 1 Concept sedan, which was shown officially to the public.
The end of November saw the signing of a deal between GAC and Huawei to create a new high-end smart new energy vehicle brand. This so-called GH Project company has a registered capital of 1.5 billion yuan (205 million USD).
Plans calls for the launch of three new flagship models during 2025. The sedan based on the 1 Concept will be the first of these, and there will also be a large MPV and large SUV.
It was initially believed that the new models would be launched under the Trumpchi brand, but the latest information suggests it will either be a new brand or a new series under Trumpchi.
The new brand is not part of HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) but has a very similar level of cooperation between the two parties. GAC refers to it as “Huawei Intelligence + GAC Smart Manufacturing,” and the agreement covers R&D, marketing, and services.
