New BYD Dolphin hatchback launched in China for 13,375 USD
The new BYD Dolphin electric hatchback was launched in China with a price range of 99,800 – 125,800 yuan (13,735 – 17,315 USD). The larger facelifted model with enhanced specs and the God’s Eye C ADAS functions became even cheaper than its predecessor.
The new BYD Dolphin hatchback applied for a sales license in China on December 9. In late February, BYD announced that this vehicle would get the company’s latest God’s Eye C (DiPilot 100) driving assistance system. On March 4, the new BYD Dolphin started sales in China. The first batches of cars have reached dealers.
More about the new BYD Dolphin
The BYD Dolphin facelift got a redesigned front end with larger headlights, a bigger trapeze-shaped air intake, and a sportier bumper. The new model adopts flush door handles instead of retractable handles of the previous model. From the back, the facelifted Dolphin has an updated taillight unit with an integrated BYD emblem instead of the Build Your Dreams inscription.
The new BYD Dolphin became seemingly bigger than its domestic predecessor. Its dimensions are 4280/1770/1570 mm with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. It is worth mentioning that the European variant of the BYD Dolphin is still 10 mm longer than the facelifted hatchback for China. The new model adopts two wheels options: 195/60 R16 and 205/50 R17.
The interior of the new BYD Dolphin has even more changes. It adopts a new three-spoke steering wheel with a gear shifter mounted behind. The facelifted hatchback also has a new LCD instrument panel with a diameter of 8.8 inches. Its center console got rid of the shelf-like element with a gear shifter and a block of physical controls. Now, the Dolphin comes standard with a 12.8-inch center screen and six speakers. The car’s center tunnel has a 50 W wireless phone charging pad.
Another feature of the BYD Dolphin is the God’s Eye C (DiPilot 100) driving assistance system. It has a tri-camera block under the windshield. This system is capable of the high-speed Navigation On Autopilot (NOA) function with 10 using scenarios supported. Later, this system will be updated with the NOA function for the city driving.
The new BYD Dolphin has three powertrain variants:
- FWD, 70 kW (94 hp), 45.1 kWh LFP battery, 420 km range
- FWD, 130 kW (174 hp), 45.1 kWh LFP battery, 410 km range
- FWD, 150 kW (201 hp), 60.5 kWh LFP battery, 520 km range
BYD Dolphin prices
The new BYD Dolphin has started sales with three trim levels in China with a price range of 99,800 –125,800 yuan (13,735 – 17,315 USD). The entry-level model has the same price tag as its predecessor. And the top-trim facelifted BYD Dolphin became 4,000 yuan (550 USD) cheaper than the 2024 car.
The new BYD Dolphin has already reached dealers. This update aims to boost the car’s market performance in the highly competitive Chinese market. The new Dolphin will compete with the Geely Xingyuan and the Aion UT.
