BYD Seal 05 DM-i PHEV with 2,000 km range will launch on February 10 in China
On February 2, BYD’s Ocean Series customer service revealed that the Seal 05 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan will be officially launched on February 10 in China. The car has already started pre-sale on January 7, offering three trims for consumers to choose from, with a price range of 89,800 – 109,800 yuan (12,250 – 15,000 USD).

For the exterior, the front face adopts the latest design concept of the BYD Ocean series. The rear is equipped with a through-type taillight group and hidden exhaust outlets, combined with a ducktail design. The “Seal 05” on the right side of the tailgate indicates its identity. Additionally, a three-eye camera is located on the front windshield, rear-facing cameras on the front fenders, and side mirror cameras.
The car is offered in four paints: two shades of gray, white, and black.

Furthermore, the BYD Seal 05 DM-i is a rebadged model of the BYD Destroyer 05. The length, width, and height of the BYD Seal 05 DM-i are 4780/1837/1515 mm, respectively; and the wheelbase is 2718 mm; which is 20 mm taller than that of the BYD Destroyer 05, while other dimensions have not changed.
One of the highlights of the Seal 05 DM-i is the BYD DM-i 5.0 PHEV system. The maximum power of the 1.5L engine is 74 kW (99 hp), and the maximum power of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is 120 kW (161 hp), matched with 7.68 kWh and 15.898 kWh LFP battery packs. The declared pure electric range is 43 km and 90 km, respectively. The fuel consumption is as low as 2.95L/100km. Under a full tank and charge, the comprehensive range is 2000 km.
The interior is decorated in gray and beige. The rotatable floating central control screen, rectangular full LCD instrument panel, D-shaped multi-function steering wheel, and waterdrop-shaped door handles are present. The “Heart of the Ocean” center console is equipped with a crystal gear lever, dual cup holders, and wireless charging pads.
