BYD Sealion 07 DM-i with “God’s Eye” C and intelligent drone system debut in China
On March 2, BYD officially debuted its Sealion 07 DM-i Intelligent Driving Edition plug-in hybrid 5-seater SUV, featuring the “God’s Eye” C (also known as DiPilot 100) and the Lingyuan intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system. The price range is expected to be from 200,000 to 250,000 yuan (27,500 – 34,300 USD).
The “Lingyuan” system is divided into battery replacement and fast-charging versions, jointly developed by BYD and DJI. The system uses the world’s first vehicle-mounted retractable helipad solution, integrating a vehicle-mounted drone positioning module, a 4K high-definition roof camera, and a customized dual-mode handle to achieve dynamic take-off and landing, one-button return to the cabin, footage storage, and fast charging, according to the official.
The battery replacement version is mainly installed on the Yangwang brand while the fast-charging version is mainly installed on the Dynasty series, Ocean series, Denza brand, and Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) brand. The fast-charging version is priced at 16,000 yuan (2,200 USD) and the first batch of models to be equipped with this system includes the FCB Bao 8, Tai 3, Denza N9, Sealion 07 DM-i, and Tang L. Currently, the FCB Bao 8 version is priced at 395,800 – 423,800 yuan (54,400 – 58,200 USD).
Positioned as a medium-to-large SUV, the BYD Sealion 07 DM-i Intelligent Driving Edition has a body size of 4880/1920/1750 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm.
The “God’s Eye” C intelligent driving system is supported via a roof lidar, which can realize city navigation, highway navigation, and parking assistance. Compared with the level 2 assisted driving system that can only be activated on highways, this system covers more scenarios, and can autonomously navigate traffic lights, obstacles, and overtake in a city urban environment.
Both two-wheel and four-wheel drives are offered. The four-wheel drive is named the Sealion 07 DM-p. This is the first time that the DM-p variant has appeared since the release of BYD’s 5.0 fifth-generation DM technology, powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T engine and dual electric motors. The maximum power of the engine is 115 kW (154 hp), the maximum power of the front motor is 200 kW (268 hp), and the maximum power of the rear motor is 150 kW (201 hp). Its 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time may be 4.7 seconds.
