Forming part of the dynasty range, the new BYD Xia inherits the dragon face design. This is perhaps best personified in the imposing grille and chrome bar, which features the Xia (夏) Chinese character at the front.

The BYD Xia boasts electric sliding doors to access the rear compartment and an electric tailgate as standard. There is double-layer soundproof glass for the front and second rows. In addition, the second and third rows feature privacy gloss.
As standard, the BYD Xia comes with a 15.6-inch centrally mounted infotainment screen along with a 12.3-inch instrument display.

It also introduces 50W wireless mobile phone charging, and a small refrigerator located in the back of the center console. This has a temperature range of -6~6℃ for cooling and 35~50℃ for heating. Also, there are fold-down tray tables on the back of the front seats for use by the second-row passengers.
Not only does the 180 km transcendence model get an all-electric range boost, but its equipment level is also higher. It gains an AR projection induction opening function for the side sliding doors and the tailgate. This is activated by users stepping on icon projected onto the ground. Second-row seats get an upgrade to zero gravity style, meaning that they have a much greater recline. They also gain a 10-point massage and memory function.
On the top of the top-of-the-line Excellence version, there is an additional 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen along with a 15.6-inch drop-down in car theatre display for the rear occupants. This version also gets an upgrade to the DiLink150 system, which can link all the screens. Due to the drop-down entertainment screen, the excellence also gains a streaming rearview mirror.
It comes with the self-developed DiSound sound system and has 28 speakers and 32 independent audio channels. The third row of subwoofers can even be detached as outdoor Bluetooth speakers with an external power of 170W.
Seats on the Excellence version gain Nappa leather and there is also an active fragrance system along with a heated steering wheel.
The BYD Xia is powered by the turbocharged version of BYD’s DM 5.0 Technology PHEV system. This means the engine has 115 kW of power. In addition the car uses a 200 kW electric motor.
100 km, all-electric range versions use a 20.4 kWh battery pack. On the other hand, 180 km range versions use a 36.6 kWh pack. Both packs use the lithium iron phosphate blade battery from BYD subsidiary FinDreams. The comprehensive range for the Xia is quoted as 1060 km, and fuel consumption is claimed to be 5.3 L/100.
The car comes with the DiPilot 100 high end intelligent driving assistance system as standard which it uses to achieve high speed driving and full scene intelligent parking assistance. Furthermore the car has the DiSus-C intelligent damping control system and the car can sense the road surface in advance and adjust the damping accordingly.
