China-made BMW X3 with a wheelbase of 2975 mm reached dealers
The China-made BMW X3 with a stretched wheelbase reached Chinese dealers as the car will start sales on February 28. The BMW-Brilliance-assembled model has a wheelbase similar to the one of the BMW X5 G05. Its top trim level 30Li offers a 2-liter turbocharged engine for 190 kW (255 hp).
BMW-Brilliance is a long-running joint venture that was formed in 2003. Nowadays, it operates a large manufacturing base in Shengyang, China. This plant assembles such models as BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5, 2 Series, 3 Series, and 5 Series. On January 7, Shenyang factory started volume production of the new BMW X3. The Chinese variant of this vehicle has an elongated wheelbase and the G48 codename. Now, this vehicle has arrived at dealers across China.
China-made BMW X3 at dealers
The new BMW-Brilliance-made X3 G48 reached dealers across China. These are display vehicles finished in the M-Sport exterior package. It has different bumpers and rims. It is a lot easier to see the M-Sport package in the car finished in white. Aside from a stretched wheelbase, the China-made X3 aligns with the G45 model. It has a large glow kidney grille, flush door handles, a slanted roofline, and signature taillights.
The exact dimensions of the BMW X3 G48 are 4865/1920/1664 mm with a wheelbase of 2975 mm. The Chinese variant of the X3 is 90 mm longer and 30 mm wider than its sibling for global markets. The China-made X3’s wheelbase is similar to the BMW X5 G05. This length transfers into larger space for the second-row passengers.
The interior of the new BMW X3 G48 has a D-shaped three-spoke steering wheel, a large 14.9-inch curved display, an interaction bar, and a head-up display. Its center console integrates a wireless phone charging pad, a small gear shifter, and a crystal infotainment system selector. The car has a large sunroof and an optional climate control zone for the second-row passenger.
The BMW X3 G48 at dealers is the 30Li trim level. It has a 2-liter turbocharged engine on board for 190 kW (255 hp). This ICE is paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox and the xDrive 4WD system. It is worth mentioning that both engine and gearbox of the X3 G48 are manufactured in China. The entry-level BMW X3 will have a 2-liter engine for 140 kW (188 hp). It is also paired with an 8-speed ZF gearbox.
The BMW X3 G48 will enter the Chinese market on February 28. Its price range has yet to be revealed.
