Five-door Wuling Hongguang Mini EV launched starting at 6,200 USD

On February 22, the SGMW joint venture launched its new five-door Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, offered in three trims:

Advanced: 44,800 yuan (6,200 USD)
Premium: 49,800 yuan (6,900 USD)
Premium+: 50,800 yuan (7,000 USD)

At the launch conference, SGMW announced that as of January 31 this year, the Hongguang Mini EV cumulative sales volume has exceeded 1.5 million units, ranking first in global mini new energy vehicle sales, with one unit sold every 90 seconds on average.

Built based on the Tianyu Architecture-S platform, the new car has a body size of 3256/1510/1578 mm, a wheelbase of 2190 mm, a minimum turning radius of 4.5 m, a curb weight of 780 kg, 19 storage spaces throughout the interior, and a standard trunk capacity of 123 L that can be expanded to 745 L after the rear seats are folded down. For reference, the 2024 Wuling Hongguang Mini EV three-door version measures 3064/1493/1614 mm and has a wheelbase of 2010 mm.

The appearance adopts a “sweet aesthetics” design, with a “smiley” front face, “caramel cream” interior color, and “cute cat paw” seats. Three body colors are available, namely, bubble green, puffy blue, and sweet coffee, painted using a seven-coating process, according to the official.

Power comes from a rear electric motor with a maximum power of 30 kW (40 hp), paired with a 16.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The top speed is 100 km/h and the CLTC range is 205 km. In addition, both DC fast charging and AC slow charging are supported. In fast charging mode, the charging time from 30% to 80% is 35 minutes, while slow charging from 20% to 100% takes 4.8 hours.

The cockpit is equipped with a 7-inch floating instrument panel and an 8-inch floating central control screen. The control knobs and air-conditioning outlets under the central control screen are retained, as well as the two-spoke steering wheel.

Other configurations include Bluetooth, a radio, two speakers, remote control via mobile phone, and safety functions including hill start assist, an electronic stability control system, and an anti-braking system. In particular, the remote control can complete operations such as checking the vehicle condition, remotely controlling door locks, starting the vehicle and air-conditioner, and scheduling charging.
