The Li Auto i8 electric crossover’s name was confirmed in China as the automaker prepared for commercial video filming. This vehicle will enter the market in 2025 as Li Auto still aims to take the BEV market share. The i8 supports 5C charging, an energy-efficient SiC power module, and a sleek styling.

Li Auto is a well-known Chinese car maker that has been selling extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) since 2018. Last year, the company made its first attempt to enter the battery-electric vehicle market with the Mega minivan. However, it suffered from slow sales, delivering 10,798 units last year. After the Li Mega launch, the automaker moved the sales start of three electric SUVs from 2024 to 2025.

Now, it was confirmed that the Li flagship electric SUV will adopt the i8 name as the company’s internal documentation leaked. Li Auto started preparation for the commercial video filming of the Li Auto i8 crossover. It means that this crossover will soon enter the Chinese market.

More about Li Auto i8

Leaked internal documentation revealed that Li Auto is working on the i8 SUV commercial video. The video will be filmed at the Zhangjiakou airport in Hebei province. The commercial video will feature the Li i8 finished in white body color. So, white will be the press color of this model.

The Li Auto i8 is a flagship model of the brand’s pure electric SUV series. It was previously spotted in China several times wearing heavy camouflage. Its exterior aligns with the previously launched Mega MPV. The Li i8 has a sleek styling with slanted A-pillars, a sloped roofline, and hidden door handles. The front end of this crossover has a distinguishing running light strip under the windshield. It also has a LiDAR sensor on the roof.

The length of the Li Auto i8 is around five meters. This vehicle will adopt the Li Auto self-developed SiC power module, which volume production started on February 13. According to the automaker, the new self-developed SiC power module will bring a quieter driving experience while being more energy-effective. The Li Auto i8 also supports 5C charging. Later, i6 and i7 crossovers will join the Li Auto i-series.
