Honda S7 electric crossover reached dealers in China before the launch on March 6
The Honda S7 electric crossover reached dealers across China before the sales launch scheduled for March 6. This vehicle boasts 4WD for 350 kW, a 24-inch screen, and the Honda Sensing 360+ driving assistance system. The S7 is Honda’s latest attempt to strengthen its position in the highly competitive Chinese market.
Honda S7 is an electric SUV built by Dongfeng Honda. It was initially introduced in China last year as a part of the newly formed Ye series. The full name of this crossover was Honda Ye S7. Recently, Honda has distanced from Ye branding. As a result, the final name of the Japanese EV is the Honda S7. It has arrived at dealers across China ahead of the sales start.
Honda S7 at dealers
The first batches of Honda S7 arrived at Dongfeng Honda dealers for display finished in blue color. The car’s front end has large boomerang-shaped headlights joined by a thin LED strip. A large air intake sits in the front bumper. Other features of the S7’s face include a new Honda logo, a front camera, and parking sensors.
The display car boasts cameras instead of side-view mirrors, large five-spoke rims, and black trim around the body. From the back, the Honda S7 has a sizeable roof spoiler, a funky rear bumper, and vertically aligned taillights with an LED strip between them. The crossover’s tailgate has a Honda inscription. The car’s badges say Dongfeng Honda (东风本田) and S7. So, it is confirmed that Honda fully abandoned the previously released Ye naming.
The interior of the Honda S7 is finished in a black-white color scheme. Its center console adopts a large portrait-oriented 24-inch screen. Another feature of this SUV is a thin 9.9-inch instrument cluster with a relatively high position. The displayed Honda S7 also has a 21.9-inch augmented reality head-up display. The car’s door cards have screens for projecting images from side-view cameras. The S7’s interior mirror can also act as a camera.
The center tunnel of the Honda S7 has a wireless phone charging pad, a button gear shifter, and a storage compartment. One more highlight of the interior is the three-spoke bi-color steering wheel with a double D shape. The Honda S7 adopts the Honda Sensing 360+ driving assistance system. In the future, the car may also adopt Huawei’s Qiankun ADAS.

The Honda S7 adopts the W platform and boasts dimensions of 4750/1930/1625 mm with a long wheelbase of 2930 mm. The 4WD variant of the Honda S7 has two electric motors. The front electric motor generates 150 kW (201 hp) while the rear e-motor has a peak power of 200 kW (268 hp). The combined power output of the Honda S7 is 350 kW (469 hp). The entry-level car is RWD with 200 kW.
The Honda S7 has an 89.8 kWh ternary NMC battery on board from CATL. It is suitable for 620 km of range under CLTC conditions for the 4WD model. The Honda S7 4WD weighs 2,305 kg and has a top speed of 180 km/h.
The electric SUV from Dongfeng Honda JV will start sales in China on March 6. Its price tag has yet to be revealed. CarNewsChina expects this SUV to cost above 200,000 yuan (27,600 USD). However, the market performance of this model is hard to predict as Honda isn’t sure about the marketing positioning of this product. The recent rejection of using the Ye branding clearly indicated it.
