Deepal S09 appears in Chinese New Year celebration and has interior exposed
The interior of the Deepal S09 has been exposed, and the car made an appearance in the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Last month, the new flagship SUV from the Changan-owned Deepal brand appeared in the monthly government regulator listings. This, plus the latest exposures, show that the car should be launched within the next few months.

It’s believed the car will be positioned to compete with vehicles such as the Li Auto L9 and the Aito M9. Inside the dashboard configuration is quite similar to that of the L9.
Most notably, there is a long screen that combines a centrally mounted infotainment screen with a passenger entertainment screen. It is not completely clear from the picture so far whether this is one screen digitally divided or, in fact, two screens placed together.

Like the L9, there is no instrument display for the driver. Presumably, this will mean that all the relevant information is displayed on a head-up display. There is a three-spoked flat-bottomed steering wheel, which is overall quite similar to that used in the recent Deepal S05.
Unusually for an SUV, the S09 features a movable center compartment that can move between the first and second rows. This at the front contains dual mobile wireless mobile phone chargers. There are two storage compartments, at the front and rear, both of which are believed to be drink holders.
Contained inside the split opening cubbyhole is a heated/cooled storage compartment that can produce temperatures of between -6°C and 50°C. With a 10-liter storage capacity, it should be able to hold several drinks or similar items.

Mounted on the back of the center console are a number of controls for the second-row climate and seats. The car is a six-seater, and second-row seats also have controls mounted on the armrests. Mounted on the back of the front passenger seat is a tray table for use by the second-row passenger.
Pictures exposed so far show a light color for the interior of the S09 but it may be possible that other colors are available.
The car appeared as part of the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. This is required viewing for most Chinese families and is broadcast over the few hours leading up to midnight on Chinese New Year’s Eve, which was yesterday. Such exposure is part of Deepal’s hopes to boost the sales of the forthcoming S09.
As can be seen from one of the pictures, Huawei equipment is largely used in the S09. The internal systems will run off the HarmonyOS, and the car can be seen to be equipped with Lidar, meaning that it is likely to use the Qiankun ADS 3.0 assisted driving system.
From the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we know that the new Deepal S09’s dimensions are 5205, 1996, and 1800 mm (l/w/h), with the wheelbase being 3105 mm.
Currently, all Deepal cars other than the G318 are available as both all-electric or extended-range EVs. However, at launch, the S09 will only be an EREV and will be available in both single and dual-motor versions.
Powering the Deepal S09 is the Deepal Super Range Extension 2.0 technology, which is centered around the JL469ZQ1 Blue Whale HE1.5T hybrid engine, which can supply a maximum power of 110 kW.
All versions use a 231 kW ATDM02 electric motor on the rear axle. Dual-motor versions add a 131 kW AYDM01 electric motor to the front axle. The top speed of both versions is 205 km/h.
Little is currently known about the batteries other than the S09 uses lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by CATL. Reportedly, the all-electric range is either 170 km or 180 km, with presumably the longer range being for the single-motor version.
It’s anticipated that the car will launch in the first quarter of 2025, with prices starting around 350,000 yuan (48,300 USD).
