GAC Trumpchi S7 PHEV with 2,618 mm long headlight and 1,150 km range started pre-sale at 29,000 USD
On March 7, GAC Trumpchi opened its S7 “medium-to-large smart SUV for elite families” under the Aspiration (or Xiangwang in Chinese) series, for pre-sale:
- 205km Max: 209,800 yuan (29,000 USD)
- 205km Max smart driving: 219,800 yuan (30,400 USD)
- 205km Max lidar: 229,800 yuan (31,800 USD)
- 180km Ultra AWD: 229,800 yuan (31,800 USD)
- 180km Ultra AWD lidar: 249,800 yuan (34,500 USD)
Subsequently, GAC Trumpchi also released the other three models under its Aspiration series, including the M8 medium-to-large MPV, the mass-produced version of the 1 Concept car, and the S9 full-size SUV.
The car is 4900 mm long, 1950 mm wide, 1780 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2880 mm. Most notably, the front face features a 2618 mm smart headlight strip and smart AI mood headlights containing 2248 lamp beads, while the rear adopts the “polar light” taillight and the D-pillar comes with an “energy breathing light” to indicate the charging status.
The exterior is available in five paints: Far East Dawn Red, Far South Rainforest Green, Far West Moon Gray, Far North Crystal Black, and Urban Blade Shadow White.
The other highlight is GAC’s self-developed L2++ map-free end-to-end intelligent driving system, which integrates a variable-focus lidar, 11 high-definition cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and eight or 12 ultrasonic radars, depending on the trims. The official claimed the automatic parking function can park in non-standard and narrow “vehicle width + 0.5m” parking spaces.
Both FWD and AWD are available for consumers to choose from. The FWD is powered by a 170 kW (228 hp)/250 Nm electric motor and a 118 kW (158 hp)/220 Nm 1.5T engine. The AWD has an additional 80 kW (107 hp)/143 Nm rear electric motor. The top speed is 185 km/h and the fastest 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 5.8 seconds.
The entire series is matched with 36.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs, providing 1,150 km and 1,020 km CLTC comprehensive ranges as well as 205 km and 180 km CLTC pure electric ranges for the FWD and AWD, respectively. The lowest WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption is 5.7L/100km. Under fast charging, it takes 17 minutes to replenish from 30% to 80%.
Six energy modes are supported: smart, super plug-in hybrid, pure electric priority, mandatory pure electric, fuel priority, and mandatory power generation.
The interior is covered in 23 ㎡of soft leather material. There is a 27-inch high-definition HUD, an 8.88-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and a 17.3-inch second-row ceiling screen (3K resolution). The standard configurations include wireless charging for mobile phones, OTA updates, electrically heated exterior mirrors, remote control, keyless entry, and an AI personal assistant.
A retractable ADiGO audio system is located behind the central control screen, in addition to the 22 high-fidelity speakers throughout the interior.
Furthermore, the second row has a maximum space of 1058 mm. The ten-layer seats support ventilation, heating, and massage functions, and the backrest can be adjusted to a maximum of 137°. After the second row is folded flat, the luggage compartment space can reach 2050 L.
