The Nissan N7 electric sedan developed jointly by the Japanese automaker with China-owned Dongfeng will enter the Chinese market in May 2025. This car is Nissan’s plan to make a comeback to the Chinese market after five years of consecutive sales decline. The N7 boasts a 5-meter body and 268 hp.

Nissan has been losing its market position in China for five consecutive years. The Japanese company sales volume in the Middle Kingdom in 2024 dropped by 49%, compared to 2019. This drop is caused by the growing trend for battery electric cars and plug-in hybrids. And Nissan severely lags behind other car makers by selling a single EV model in China, which is the Ariya SUV that started showing its age.
Nissan needed a comeback plan in China to stop a series of failures. So, the Japanese carmaker launched a joint project with China-owned Dongfeng in car development. The first product from these two parties is the Nissan N7 electric sedan.

More about Nissan N7
The Nissan N7 electric sedan was first released at the Guangzhou Auto Show to “redefine a new benchmark for pure electric cars among Chinese families.” In January 2025, the production-ready variant of this sedan applied for a sales license in China, getting ready for the market launch. The N7 will enter the Chinese market in May this year.
The Nissan N7 is said to be underpinned by a new electric architecture jointly developed by Nissan and Dongfeng. However, this vehicle stays close to the Dongfeng eπ 007 sedan in terms of specs and overall look. They share the same wheelbase length of 2915 mm and a body width of 1895 mm. The output of the N7’s powertrain is also similar to 2WD variants of the eπ-branded model. So, it seems that the Nissan-Dongfeng team developed the N7 sedan with an eye to the eπ 007.
Nissan N7 specs

Another feature of the car is a single interactive taillight strip with 882 light units. The N7’s cabin adopts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip. Another highlight of the car is the intelligent driving system developed by Dongfeng Nissan and Momenta.
The Nissan N7 is highly similar to the eπ 007 in terms of specs. The price range of the Dongfeng’s sedan RWD variant is 131,600 – 149,600 yuan (18,060 – 20,530 USD). Bearing in mind the Nissan N7 is a JV product, it will have a higher price. CarNewsChina expects this EV to cost 160,000 – 180,000 yuan (21,950 – 24,700 USD). It will be available exclusively in China.
Previously, Dongfeng Nissan CEO Liu Xinyu reported that Nissan will launch four more new energy vehicles in 12 months after the market debut of the Nissan N7. So, Nissan is determined to regain lost ground in China.
