Xiaomi delivered over 135,000 vehicles in 2024, and the delivery target in 2025 is 300,000 units, the company founder and CEO Lei Jun revealed during the New Year’s Eve broadcast.

Jun also said Xiaomi Auto opened 200 stores in 58 cities across China. Xiaomi doesn’t use the traditional dealership model but sells cars directly to the customers.

Xiaomi announced its car building ambitions nearly in March 2021. Three years later, in March 2024, Xiaomi launched its first vehicle, an all-electric SU7 sedan. It sold out for the rest of the year in 24 hours following the launch.

Xiaomi’s initial delivery target was 100,000 for 2024, but the company increased it as production ramping in their Beijing factory went better than expected. The Xiaomi EV plant has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units in the first phase and another 150,000 units after the second phase expansion, bringing the total capacity to 300,000 annually.

Xiaomi SU7 is a Tesla Model 3 rival that starts at 215,900 yuan (29,570 USD) in China. It is a nearly 5-meter long sedan with a 3-meter wheelbase. The entry-level variant has BYD’s LFP battery with73.6 kWh capacity, good for a 700 km CLTC range.

The top trim level SU7 Max has a 101 kWh NMC battery from CATL, good for 800 km, storing electricity for two e-motors with combined power of 495 kW (664 hp) and 838 Nm peak torque.

Xiaomi’s second car, the YU7 SUV, will launch in June or July 2025.
