2025 Denza D9 with BYD’s DM-i 5.0 PHEV system will launch on Dec 26
On December 20, BYD announced that its 2025 Denza D9 MPV will launch on December 26. For reference, the 2024 Denza D9 released in March this year has a price tag starting from 339,800 yuan (46,600 USD).

The appearance is largely the same as the current model on sale and still adopts a seven-seat layout, except that a lidar is installed on the roof, indicating an improvement in the intelligent driving capabilities. The signature large scale-like or waterfall style front grille, headlight, and chrome decorations are retained while the new Denza D9 runs on newly designed 18-inch multi-spoke aluminum alloy rims. The “BYD DM-i AWD” logo is added to the rear, highlighting the upgrade of the new Denza D9’s power system. The length, width, and height are 5250/1960/1900 mm, and the wheelbase is 3110 mm, which is 20 mm shorter.
Power comes from the BYD fifth generation DM-i plug-in hybrid system, consists of a 1.5T engine and electric motors. The maximum power of the engine is 115 kW (154 hp) and the top speed is 190 km/h. Both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options will be available for consumers to choose from. The front motor has a maximum power of 272 hp while the rear motor outputs 122 hp. Additionally, its 39.938 kWh battery pack offers two pure electric ranges of 145 km and 155 km, corresponding to a fuel consumption of 7.15L/100km and 6.65L/100km, respectively.

For reference, the 2024 Denza D9 offers DM-i plug-in hybrid and pure electric variants. The plug-in hybrid variant has a CLTC pure electric range of 200 km and a comprehensive range of 1,050 km.
Judging from the interior spy shot, the cockpit also continues the layout of the current model. The D-shaped steering wheel, small LCD instrument panel, and large central control screen are all retained, but the gear design has changed.
From December 2 to 15, the Denza D9 sold 3,580 units in China, ranking second behind the Voyah Dreamer, which sold 3,674 units.
