Jetour Shanhai T2 AWD version launches as a PHEV SUV with an intelligent X drive mode

On October 21, Chery launched the all-wheel-drive PHEV version of the Jetour Shanhai T2. At least initially, only one version was available, the four-wheel-drive mountain version, Priced at 224,900 yuan (31,650 USD).

The two-wheel-drive Jetour Shanhai T2 has been available since April. Essentially, the Jetour Shanhai T2 is a PHEV version of the Jetour Traveller.

Pure electric range is 206 km, and the comprehensive range for the car is 1300 km with a quoted fuel consumption of 6.78L/100km. Wading depth of the Jetour Shanhai T2 is 700 mm, and it has an electronically controlled tooth-embedded rear axle differential lock that supports creep mode, tank turn, hill start assist, hill descent control. Furthermore, it has 7+X intelligent driving modes consisting of: economy, standard, sports, snow, mud, sand, rock, and X. That last mode, it claims, will automatically sense road conditions and switch to the most appropriate drive mode.

Surrounding the bottom of the car is black cladding, and the 4-wheel drive comes with AT off-road tires. The angles of approach and departure are 28 and 30 degrees, respectively, and the minimum ground clearance is 201 mm. Dimensions of the Jetour Shanhai T2 4785, 2006, and 1875mm (l/w/h) while the wheelbase is 2800mm, making it a mid-sized SUV. Curb weight is 2376 kg. The front suspension uses a MacPherson strut, while the rear has multi-link independent suspension.

Inside, the all-wheel drive version of the T2 carries on the general look of the 2WD version and has a two-tone color scheme. There is a 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen and also a 10.25-inch instrument screen. Powering the car’s systems is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip supporting intelligent voice control, a variety of apps, remote car control, panoramic image, and a transparent chassis view.

In-car equipment includes an 8-speaker sound system, fragrance dispenser, and panoramic roof. The front seats have heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A storage box is mounted on the rear tailgate, which opens to the passenger side. Trunk space is 580 liters, and the seats have 60:40 split folding – the car is only available as a 5-seater.

Chery’s familiar Kunpeng PHEV power system powers the car. This system is based around a 1.5TGDI engine with 115 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque. Whereas the 2WD version of the Jetour Shanhai T2 has just a 165 kW electric motor on the front axle, the 4WD version also adds a 175 kW motor to the rear axle. The total power for the system is 455 kW, with a maximum torque of 920 Nm. The car uses a 3-speed DHT hybrid gearbox.

There is a CATL lithium iron phosphate battery with a 43.24 kWh battery capacity. External discharge of 6.6 kW is supported.  

Jetour is a Chery brand that mainly concentrates on SUVs.
