BYD Seal 05 DM-i is a PHEV sedan to replace the Destroyer 05
Thanks to a government regulator, we now know more about the new BYD sedan, the Seal 05 DM-i. A PHEV model, it is smaller in size than both the original Seal and the Seal 06. It is largely a facelift of the car currently known as the Destroyer 05 (see specs).

All Chinese cars need to get approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) before they can be sold. Annoyingly for car producers, this results in information being shared publicly before the cars are launched.
From the MIIT information, we know that the new car has a length of 4780 mm. This makes the Seal 05 fifty millimeters shorter than the Seal 06, which is also a PHEV. It is also twenty millimeters shorter than the original Seal, which is an EV. The width is 1837 mm, and the height is 1515 mm, while the wheelbase is 2718 mm.

There are three separate listings from MIIT. The base model has a curb weight of 1480 kg, and the two other listings come in at 1580 kg. All versions offer a choice between 16 or 17-inch wheels.
The car uses the new BYD DM 5.0 fifth-generation PHEV technology. Being one of the smaller cars to use this, it uses the lower capacity 74KW naturally aspirated 1.5 liter BYD472QC engine. All three versions use the same TZ210XYB 120KW electric motor produced by the Changsha devision of BYD.
Bing a BYD, of course, the car uses the company’s lithium iron phosphate blade battery. Given the weight difference between the versions, we can assume that there are two different battery capacities, although definitive information has yet to appear.

BYD is usually fast at launching new cars, so we can expect the Seal 05 to debut in the first few months of 2025.
