Denza N9 set for official launch on March 21
The global launch event for the Denza N9 will be held on March 21. The vehicle began its pre-sale period on February 21, with prices ranging from 450,000 to 550,000 yuan (62,500-76,400 USD). Currently, Denza is offering priority purchasing rights for a limited first edition version, with customers able to secure their place in line by paying a 2,000 yuan deposit.
Regarding its exterior, the new vehicle features the closed front grille design common to many electric vehicles, along with split headlights. The front includes air flow channels on both sides, while the lower bumper adopts a dual-layer ventilation design that gives the vehicle a more substantial appearance. Pronounced character lines along the hood add to its powerful presence. The N9 will be available in four color options: Deep Ink Black, Snow Jade White, Smoke Crystal Gray, and Emerald Green.
The N9 also incorporates flush door handles, a common feature in modern electric vehicles. The vehicle measures 5,258mm/2,030mm/1,830mm in length, width and height, with a wheelbase of 3,125mm. For driver assistance systems, the N9 is equipped with BYD’s advanced “God’s Eye B” (DiPilot 300) intelligent driving platform.
Inside, customers can choose between Platinum Gray or Cloud Brocade Rice interior color schemes. The N9 features the world’s first active side bolster function for the driver’s seat, while the front passenger enjoys a zero-gravity seat with a four-way adjustable leg rest. The second-row seats offer 14-way electric adjustment and include uniquely class-leading synchronized sliding dual tables and dual 50W wireless charging capabilities.
In terms of powertrain, the N9 is built on the e3 intelligent vehicle control technology platform and features the Cloud-A intelligent air suspension system. The vehicle is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 2.0T engine and three electric motors. The engine delivers an impressive 207 horsepower, enabling the vehicle to achieve 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately 3 seconds. Denza N9 achieves a CLTC combined range of 1,300km, with a pure electric range exceeding 200 km.
Denza originally started life as a 50:50 joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. Sales were never good and in 2021 Mercedes-Benz watered down its stake to 10%, in September 2024 it completely left this joint venture and BYD is the only shareholder of this high-end NEV brand now.
