Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV sedan revealed by Chinese MIIT

On February 19, Geely’s latest Galaxy Starshine 8 EM-P sedan was exposed by the Chinese MIIT, revealing two trims. The new car can be regarded as the plug-in hybrid variant of the Geely Galaxy E8 and also Geely Galaxy’s first product equipped with the NordThor EM-P system. Once launched, it is expected to compete against the BYD Han L.

Earlier, the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 EM-P was spied in China.

The vehicle has a length, width, and height of 5018/1918/1480 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2928 mm. The two trims each has a curb weight of 1908 kg and 1950 kg, and run on 235/50R18 or 245/45R19 tires. The approach and departure angles are 13° and 15°.

For the exterior, the narrow and long headlights are connected by a light strip running through the center. A roof lidar is located above the front windshield as well as exterior cameras to support intelligent driving functions. From the side, the body remains the hidden door handles. In the rear, the through-type taillights are connected by a blackened strip while the bottom is decorated with red strips on both sides.

Additionally, the interior is expected to be equipped with the Flyme Auto smart cockpit system as the standard across the entire series.

The power comes from Geely’s self-developed NordThor EM-P system, as indicated by the tail label, consisting of a 120 kW (161 hp) 1.5L engine model BHE15-BFZ and a 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor, matched with lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by CATL in capacities of 18.4 kWh and 27.69 kWh. The CLTC pure electric range is 104 km and 161 km, respectively. The top speed is 200 km/h.

At this time, the comprehensive range and other powertrain parameters have not been revealed. We’ll watch for more info.
