Yangwang U7 PHEV exposed with 2.0T engine and four electric motors
On December 9, BYD’s Yangwang U7 PHEV variant was declared in the latest Chinese MIIT catalog. Previously, both the EV and PHEV variants started pre-sale at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November requiring a 20,000 yuan (2,800 USD) deposit, and are available in four- and five-seat layouts.

The Yangwang U7 PHEV is powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 2.0T engine (model BYD4H20) and four permanent magnet synchronous motors (models TZ220XYBC and TZ220XYBN) manufactured by BYD. The engine outputs a maximum power of 200 kW (268 hp) while the four motors each output either 260 kW (349 hp) or 240 kW (322 hp), bringing the combined motor power to 1,000 kW (1,341 hp). The top speed can reach 270 km/h. The 52.4 kWh BYD Blade battery pack onboard provides a pure electric range of 180 km. Under a full fuel tank and full charge, the WLTC comprehensive range can reach 1,000 km.
Sitting on BYD’s e⁴ platform (also known as YiSiFang), the length, width, and height of the Yangwang U7 PHEV are 5360/2000/1515 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 3200 mm. Its curb weight is 3223 kg, the approach angle is 13°, and the departure angle is 14°. The car runs on 275/40R21 tires. The Yangwang U7 is also equipped with BYD’s new DiSus-Z intelligent body control system.

The Yangwang U7 PHEV comes standard with a panoramic sunroof and an electric rear wing. Optional configurations include front/rear fender carbon fiber trim, brake caliper of different colors, carbon fiber side skirts, e⁴ logos, and digital side mirrors.
In terms of appearance, the Yangwang PHEV has a larger grille since it has an engine in the front for heat dissipation requirements. Otherwise, the front face retains the exaggerated C-shaped headlight group.
Inside, the Yangwang U7 is available in two colors: red and white. The cockpit has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a 23.6-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 70-inch AR-HUD, a 12.8-inch vertical central control screen as U8, and a 23.6-inch co-pilot entertainment screen. The audio system is supplied by Dynaudio’s 23 Evidence Platinum speakers.

The center console has a cover that can slide open, revealing 50 W wireless charging panels and cup holders. The cup holders can be heated or cooled individually. Then, going further back is an armrest box, which has a refrigerator inside. Behind the refrigerator is a touch screen that can adjust the temperature and air conditioning.
In the rear row, the four-seater trim adopts an integrated center console design while the five-seater trim has a retractable armrest.
