Xiaomi Auto has released further details on its Skynomad (also known as Pengcheng) range-extended SUV lineup, just days before the scheduled July 30, 2026 technical presentation. The new Kunlun Range Extender is designed to run on 92, 95, or 98 octane gasoline, with a minimum WLTC-depleted fuel consumption rating of 5.7 L/100 km.
The automaker confirmed that the Skynomad series will incorporate the Xiaomi Kunlun Range Extender as part of the upcoming Kunlun Architecture announcement. This architecture encompasses the Kunlun platform, the Kunlun Super Range Extender, and the Kunlun All-Domain Safety systems.
The range extender features a 1.5T M15DRE engine, jointly developed with Harbin Dongan Auto Engine. It produces a maximum output of 112 kW and is compatible with 92, 95, and 98 octane fuels. The company lists a minimum WLTC-depleted fuel consumption of 5.7 L/100 km. Both the range extender and the three-electric system come with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty, while maintenance intervals are set at once every three years or 30,000 km after the initial service.
Previous reports have tracked the Skynomad lineup's development. A July 11 article detailed two Skynomad crossover models after their core specifications emerged in China, while a July 23 report outlined the N90's 2+2+3 seating arrangement. The latest disclosures provide Xiaomi's own data on the Kunlun Range Extender, N90 Max testing, and the upcoming technical event.
Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun also shared test results for a Skynomad N90 Max prototype. The vehicle, designated KV235, started road testing in January 2026 and has accumulated over 60,000 km in six months. Lei Jun noted that the test vehicle passed through Beijing, Shenyang, Changchun, Hulunbuir, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Haikou, Sanya, Nanning, and Kunming. Detailed performance data from these tests have not yet been released.
Regulatory filings list the Skynomad N90 Max at 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height, with a 3,080 mm wheelbase. A camping version has a height of 1,925 mm. The filing shows five-seat and 2+2+3 seven-seat configurations. The N90 Max uses the 1.5T range extender producing 112 kW, combined with dual electric motors rated at 210 kW and 100 kW. A 76 kWh battery pack is listed, with WLTC pure-electric range figures of 363–370 km.
The smaller Skynomad N70 Max, available with a four-wheel-drive dual-motor setup, measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,765 mm in height, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. Regulatory documents list five-seat seating, single-motor and dual-motor configurations, and 52 kWh and 76 kWh battery options. Its electric range figures are 265–270 km and 375–380 km, depending on configuration, though the applicable testing cycle is not specified.
The Skynomad lineup represents Xiaomi Auto's second major product series, adding range-extended SUVs to its existing pure-electric models, the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. According to China EV DataTracker, Xiaomi Auto sold 34,738 vehicles in June, up 6.0% from May and 36.4% year-on-year, holding a 2.2% domestic market share. The SU7 contributed 20,414 units (58.8% of sales), while the YU7 reached 14,324 units (41.2%). Compared to May, SU7 sales dropped 15.0%, while YU7 sales surged 64.0%. Year-on-year, SU7 sales fell 12.1%, but YU7 sales soared 541.2%.
The Skynomad series is still in pre-launch. Xiaomi is expected to provide more details during the July 30 Kunlun Architecture presentation. Pricing, final configurations, and delivery timing have not yet been announced.
