Changan's Deepal brand officially opened pre-sales for the completely updated Deepal S05 today. This globally-focused electric SUV now comes in five distinct trim levels, with pre-sale pricing spanning from 119,900 yuan (about $17,600) to 151,900 yuan (roughly $22,300). The official market debut is scheduled for August 6.

Design and Cabin Enhancements
The exterior of the Deepal S05 retains a closed grille but adopts a new "Flying Shadow" front design with flowing decorative lines and "Deepal Eye" petal-shaped headlights. Other updates include refined body cladding with chrome accents, frameless doors, semi-concealed door handles, and fresh 18-inch wheels.
Inside, the cabin adopts a "Floating Starship" theme, featuring leather upholstery and wood-grain trims. Notable changes include the removal of through-type air vents on the center console, the addition of mechanical door handles, and a 256-color floating ambient lighting system. Interior color options are Nebula Purple, Heatwave Orange, and Star Rock Grey. The cockpit is dominated by a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating central screen and a column-mounted gear shifter.
Smart Driving and Performance
A standout upgrade is the inclusion of a LiDAR sensor along with 26 high-perception sensors, which power the SDA Pilot intelligent driving system. This system provides over 90 driving assistance functions, covering urban commuting, highway cruising, and parking scenarios.
The smart cockpit runs on a 3nm automotive-grade chip, supporting the Deepal OS integrated with the DeepSeek R1 large language model. It also features a "four-map fusion" real-scene lane-level navigation system. The S05 comes standard with variable adaptive suspension (FSD+HRS).
Storage and Battery
Cargo capacity has been improved with 37 storage compartments, a 492-liter dual-layer trunk, and a 159-liter front trunk.
The electric version is powered by an XTDM67 permanent magnet synchronous rear motor producing 272 hp, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.28 seconds. Using CATL battery cells and "Golden Bell" battery technology, the S05 offers CLTC ranges of 520 km or 620 km. It supports 3C fast charging, reaching 30%-80% charge in just 15 minutes.
The S05 is a global model from Deepal. The previous version launched in Europe last year and entered the UK market this March. Global sales stand at approximately 30,000 units per month.
