The Freelander 8, a collaborative effort between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, is nearing its official launch. On July 22, 2026, Wen Fei, the brand's Global CEO, took to social media to reveal fresh insights into the vehicle's second-row layout, highlighting its focus on passenger comfort and luxury.
Second-Row Comfort
The second row boasts dual zero-gravity seats, each equipped with heating, ventilation, massage functions, and leg rests. Additional amenities include integrated small tables and an onboard refrigerator. Earlier disclosures indicated that the Freelander 8 will also come with a ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, while third-row passengers get cup holders and seat adjustment options.
Interior Design
A new design language defines the cabin, centered around a 46.3-inch far-end display and a 15.6-inch LED central control screen. Physical buttons are standard, featuring Paris hobnail (Clous de Paris) craftsmanship inspired by high-end luxury watches. The interior also includes optical-grade dual-floating crystal knobs made from K9 optical crystal with 144 precisely cut facets, complemented by 256-color dual-aperture floating ambient lighting.
Exterior Styling
The Freelander 8 retains the brand's classic boxy silhouette, drawing inspiration from the Concept 97. Its front fascia sports a closed design with rectangular headlights, while the side profile showcases straight, sharp lines, stylish wheels, and a roof rack. Three launch colors curated by Global Design Director Phil Simmons include Thermal Lemon, Streamer Silver, and Twilight Purple.
Technology and Performance
Marketed as a luxury tech all-terrain SUV, the Freelander 8 incorporates four Huawei LiDAR sensors and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 flagship chip. Standard equipment includes the latest Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system and an 800V high-voltage extended-range platform. The vehicle also features the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, co-developed with Huawei.
