Xpeng has officially revealed the G9L, a full-size five-seat electric SUV, in China, positioning it as a global model. The vehicle is expected to hit the market shortly with a starting price of approximately 300,000 yuan (around $44,435 USD). One of its standout features is the ability to add 450 kilometers of range in just nine minutes of charging.
The G9L is a battery-electric crossover that had previously disclosed key specifications during China's domestic homologation process. As a full-size SUV, it measures 5,120 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,795 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. To put that in perspective, the G9L is 198 mm longer than the BMW X5 (G05). The vehicle is exclusively offered with a five-seat interior layout, a deliberate choice by Xpeng to avoid direct competition with its recently launched six-seat GX model.
The G9L is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, featuring a 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor on the front axle and a 270 kW (362 hp) motor on the rear. Together, they produce a combined peak output of 430 kW (577 hp), allowing the five-seater to reach a top speed of 200 km/h. Company officials have emphasized that the model is built on an 800-volt platform, which enables the rapid charging capability mentioned earlier.
In terms of design, the G9L adopts the latest styling language introduced with the GX. It features hidden door handles, electrically powered soft-closing doors, a closed front end, pronounced rear fenders, and large 22-inch wheels. Inside, the SUV offers front seats with power-adjustable lumbar support and side bolstering, while the front passenger seat includes a zero-gravity mode. Additional interior amenities include a built-in refrigerator, an augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), and a spacious 1,152-liter trunk.
On the technology front, the G9L incorporates Xpeng's second-generation Vision Language Action (VLA) model, powered by four AI Turing chips that deliver a peak computing power of 2,250 TOPS. This setup supports a comprehensive driver assistance system, including Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) and self-parking functions. According to Xpeng's CEO, the G9L also achieves the fastest moose test results in its class. Additionally, the vehicle features an aviation-grade redundancy design, which reportedly meets five-star safety standards from four major global institutions (likely Euro NCAP, C-NCAP, ANCAP, and Global NCAP).
While the official release date for the Xpeng G9L has not been announced, recent activity from the brand suggests a launch is imminent. According to China EV DataTracker, Xpeng delivered 134,378 vehicles domestically in the first half of 2026, a 24.5% decrease year-over-year.
