Major automakers have now released their sales and delivery data for July 2026, with New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales taking center stage. BYD remained the undisputed leader, delivering 411,072 passenger cars, followed by SAIC and Geely. Meanwhile, Leapmotor celebrated a significant milestone by surpassing 100,000 units for the first time.

Leapmotor's July sales reached 101,267 units, marking a 102% year-on-year increase. Impressively, its NEV-only sales have now overtaken those of Changan, one of China's automotive heavyweights, which sold 96,500 NEVs in July. Leapmotor is also closing in on Geely Galaxy, Geely's top-selling new energy brand, which recorded 107,797 units in the same month.

The Leapmotor A10 (known internationally as the B03X), launched at the end of March, contributed 28,593 units in July, accounting for nearly 30% of the company's total deliveries.

BYD continued its market dominance with total sales of 411,072 units in July, marking three consecutive months of year-on-year growth. Its overseas sales soared to nearly 180,000 units, an all-time high. Within the group, Fang Cheng Bao sold 41,213 units, up 190.6% year-on-year, while Denza delivered 19,196 vehicles, a 68.8% increase.

Li Auto, however, experienced a slight decline, with 30,468 vehicles sold in July, down 0.9% from the same period last year. Nio delivered 35,934 units, a 71% year-on-year jump, with the main Nio brand contributing 20,008 units, Onvo adding 10,155 units (+69.9% YoY), and Firefly contributing 5,771 units (+143.9% YoY).

Xiaomi also crossed the 30,000-unit mark in July. Meanwhile, Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) delivered 45,046 units. Among them, Luxeed, the joint effort between Chery and Huawei, sold 10,709 units, a remarkable 227.7% year-on-year increase, surpassing its previous best monthly performance of 5,541 units in June.
