GWM’s Ora brand has officially previewed two new variants of the Ora 5 crossover: the Sport and the GT. These trims introduce visual updates for the electric (EV), hybrid (HEV), and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the model. Highlights include fresh paint schemes and aerodynamic body components. Although official pricing has not been disclosed, the current Ora 5 range begins at 69,800 yuan (approximately 10,200 USD) in the domestic market.
The Ora 5 Sport features subtle exterior changes, with the most notable addition being a two-tone paint finish that includes a white roof. Official teaser images also reveal red brake calipers, larger alloy wheels, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor—a feature currently reserved for EV variants.

Moving up to the GT trim, the changes become more pronounced. This version comes equipped with a comprehensive body kit that includes a front splitter, rear spoiler, and side skirts. Red accents on the wheels, headlights, brakes, and aerodynamic elements reinforce the sporty appearance. The GT model shown in the teaser appears to be an EV, indicated by the charging port located on the front fender.

GWM has not disclosed any mechanical upgrades for the Sport and GT trims. It remains uncertain whether these variants will be available for the ICE and HEV versions of the Ora 5, or if they will offer increased horsepower or revised handling. The updates may be limited to cosmetic enhancements only. This approach mirrors that of Ora’s Funky Cat (also called the Good Cat or Ora 3), whose GT trim adds splitters and spoilers without any power or chassis improvements over the standard top-spec model.
The Ora 5 is available with three powertrain options: all-electric, self-charging hybrid, and petrol-only ICE. The EV variant uses a 150 kW (201 hp) front-mounted motor, paired with 45.3 kWh or 58.3 kWh LFP battery packs supplied by GWM’s SVOLT division. These provide CLTC-rated ranges of 480 km and 580 km, respectively.

For the ICE variant, a 135 kW (181 hp) 1.5-litre engine with a variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) is used, mated to a 7-speed DCT. This setup achieves 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, a top speed of 190 km/h, and a WLTC fuel consumption of 6.4 L/100 km. The HEV model combines a 115 kW (154 hp) 1.5-litre turbo engine with a 140 kW (188 hp) front motor, linked to a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). Total system output is 166 kW (223 hp), enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 185 km/h, with WLTC consumption rated at 4.5 L/100 km.

On the technology front, the Ora 5 is GWM’s first vehicle to feature the Coffee Pilot 3 OS, the company’s latest L2 driver-assistance system. This system supports navigation on autopilot (NOA) and can guide the vehicle through up to 3 km of a multi-story car park. GWM claims the Ora 5 will be the most affordable LiDAR-equipped car in China, even with the LiDAR offered as an optional extra. While LiDAR is not currently available on non-EV Ora 5s in China, it may be offered in overseas markets, aligning with the LiDAR-focused export strategies of rivals like Chery.
In terms of dimensions, the Ora 5 measures 4471 mm in length, 1833 mm in width, and 1641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2720 mm. Curb weight ranges from 1440 to 1665 kg. The front suspension uses McPherson struts, while the rear employs a multi-link setup.

According to China EV DataTracker, the Ora 5 EV delivered 2,789 units domestically in June 2026. Since its launch in December 2025, the overall Ora 5 lineup has not exceeded 5,000 monthly sales. The introduction of the new GT and Sport trims, alongside the recently launched HEV and ICE variants, may help boost the model’s appeal in the market.
