Chery Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled new details about the Freelander 8, the first model under the revived Freelander brand. Following the recent reveal of its exterior color options, the vehicle is scheduled to hit the market in the second half of 2026.

Panoramic display

The Freelander 8 introduces a “Panoramic Intelligent Display” featuring a 46.3-inch far-field screen. Measuring 1.2 meters wide—300 mm wider than mainstream competitors—the display delivers 8K resolution, which the company claims is four times sharper than standard 4K. It also supports 1000 nits brightness, making it the industry’s only large-format, all-weather clear display.

Design and dimensions

Drawing from the Concept 97 design language, the Freelander 8 measures 5118 (5185) mm in length, 2050 mm in width, and 1898 mm in height, with a 3040 mm wheelbase. It features a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration. For outdoor use, the vehicle supports an optional towing package with a maximum capacity of 2000 kg. The model will be available in Pro, Max, and Max+ trim levels.

Intelligent cockpit and performance

The Freelander 8 is the result of a deep partnership between Freelander, Huawei, CATL, and Qualcomm. The entire lineup is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip. Compared to the previous 8295 platform, the new chip delivers a 3-fold increase in CPU performance, nearly 3-fold increase in GPU performance, and a 12-fold leap in NPU computing power.

Driver assistance

For intelligent driving, the Freelander 8 comes standard across all trims with the Huawei Qiankun ADS 4.1 system, which supports future upgrades. The vehicle’s perception suite is anchored by an 896-line LiDAR sensor.
